Description of the artwork «Still life»

At first glance a simple still life - fruit, flowers in a vase, flowing fabric.
But if you look more closely and thoughtfully, this picture opens with a completely different side, filled with hidden meaning.
There is some mystery and internal mystical tension in this still life.
With light and blue draperies it is clearly divided into two parts - day and night, light and darkness, good and evil.
A rooster with a "halo" around his head mysteriously looks out from behind the white drapery. The rooster is a frequent character in the work of V. Plastinin, who was born in the year of the rooster according to the Chinese calendar.
In the works of the artist it usually carries a certain positive semantic and symbolic load. "The nimbus around the bird's head is most likely a solar disk. The rooster - the singer of the dawn is inextricably linked with the sun, light and the forces of good. Perhaps that is why the disk of the sun appears as a nimbus, for good is holy.
Here, on a light fabric, a bouquet of thistle in a vase is also depicted. This plant already in the very name contains an indication of its use for struggle against evil.
The white drapery clearly reads the letter V - the initial letter of the artist's name, Vladimir.
Thus, in this light part of the still life there are elements that symbolize light and goodness.
The rooster is at the head of the painting against a background of a golden sun disk and a blue sky.
And it immediately becomes clear why the eyes of a black cat are burning unkindly from under the table - it is the antithesis of the rooster-sun, a symbol of darkness, evil, night. And all blue drapery with unusually shaped red flowers and bright fruit, associated with worldly passions and temptations, is contrasted with light: as darkness to light, night to day.
And the ornate signature of the artist above the rooster's head clearly indicates on whose side the author of the painting is - on the side of light and good. The artist depicted not only what he sees in front of him, but also what he sees in himself.
All these moments allow us to refer the work to symbolism - one of the main directions in the work of artist Vladimir Plastinin, an analyst with a philosophical and pathetic understanding of the world, striving to penetrate the psychology of feelings and energy of form. And it is well known that artists of symbolist type are always difficult to understand not only by a wide range of ordinary people, but also by the creative intelligentsia, and even by fellow artists.
