Vasilyevich Gorbunov

Russia • born in 1933

He was born the village of Aleshkino, now the Kostroma region.

Soviet painter, graphic artist, muralist, artist of the theatre.

Studied at Kostroma art school(1948-58) and the Kharkov Institute (1958-64) Professor B. V. Kosarev.

Currently associate Professor of art-graphic faculty of the Kostroma University, and also holds the position of Executive Secretary of the Kostroma branch of the Union of Artists of Russia.

From 1938 lives and works in Kostroma. Worked as an artist in Kostroma drama theatre (1968-70). He has designed productions "Maria", "Other", "Shoes with gold jumping", "RV", etc.

Participated in the execution of monumental murals and panels in Kostroma: the blood transfusion station (interior); the administration building of the plant "Metalist working" (facade); the plant "Luch" (sgraffito).

For most paintings Gorbunova characteristic historical accuracy of events and a rich color palette. In his work he deals with the themes of war, the construction of his native city, and also develops the genres of portraiture, landscape and still life.
