Vasilyevich Snigirevsky

Born in St. Petersburg, twelve-year-old enrolled as a student of Saint-Petersburg Larinskaya gymnasium, but in 1858 entered the Academy of fine Arts. Doing it, for his success in painting and sculpting has received three small and two large silver medals, in 1868 he was awarded a small gold medal for the program "Prometheus tormented by the eagle," and in 1870 graduated from the Academy with the rank of class artist 1 art received for the bas-relief "the Confidence of Alexander the Great and his doctor Philip". Soon visited Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Paris, London and settled in Rome, where he executed the statue: "the Blind musician", "Curiosity" (girl, rummaging in the folder with the pictures) and "the Boy from Naples, who plays bocceto" and "Into the storm" and "the Girl-negress, amused his brother." On his return to St. Petersburg in 1875, a year was awarded the title of academician for the statue "Orpheus, playing the harp in subduing animals." From the works of the snigirevsky deserve, beyond the above, to be mentioned the busts of generals M. D. Skobelev and I. V. Gurko and several groups modelled in wax for performance in silver and bronze ("hussar, requiring witch horse", "Mazeppa, uvozyaschy Maria Kochubey", "Cossacks on SHIPKA" and others).
