Born in the village of Moskalivka, Ternopil region. Graduated from Lviv Institute of applied and decorative art (1965). Educators – K. Zverinsky, SEL R., D. Doubochinski. Member nuau (1988), laureate of National prize of Ukraine. T. Shevchenko (1997), people's artist of Ukraine (2002). Participant of numerous exhibitions. Held about 50 solo exhibitions in Ukraine and other countries. Lives in Kiev and new York (1990). Works in easel and monumental painting, graphics and ceramics. Works are in Museum, gallery and private collections of Ukraine, Germany, USA.

Born may 12, 1936, in the Ternopil region. After finishing seven years of school from 1951-1956 he studied in Lviv College of applied arts. Ivan Trush, Department of decorative painting. After military service he continued his education at the Lviv Institute of applied art, ceramics Department, from which he graduated in 1965 From 1965 to 1968 he worked in Kiev research Institute of superhard materials, and then at the Kyiv factory of monumental and decorative art. The first official exhibition of the Ukrainian artist was held in 1979 in Moscow. In Ukraine talking about him after the exhibition in the House of writers in September 1980 Famous Ukrainian painter, laureate of National prize named after T. G. Shevchenko, people's artist of Ukraine Ivan Marchuk has numerous admirers of his talent in European countries, USA and Australia (the artist more than 10 years he lived abroad).
