Petrovich Sokov

Born in Mikhaleva, D. Kalinin region. Studied at the Moscow higher art-industrial school (1964-1969). Member of the Union of artists of the USSR (1972). Emigrated to the United States (1980). Lives and works in new York. One of the most famous representatives of the Sots art. His works are represented: the state Tretyakov gallery (Moscow), State Russian Museum (St.-Petersburg), State Museum of fine arts. A. S. Pushkin (Moscow), national Centre for contemporary arts (Moscow), Moscow Museum of modern art, the Museum of contemporary art ART4.RU (Moscow), State Museum of contemporary art, "Centre Georges Pompidou" (Paris, France), Museum of contemporary art (Kumamoto, Japan). The artist's work presented at prestigious auctions of the world (Sotheby's, 12 March 2008, Christie).
