Born in 1947 in Sverdlovsk.

In 1970 he graduated from the picturesque pedagogical Department of the Sverdlovsk art College. Thesis – "Summer day". In the 1980s he taught composition and painting at the school.

Since 1972, involved in domestic and foreign exhibitions.

Since 1980 – member of the Union of artists of Russia. Winner of the prize. G. S. Mosin. A famous author of the monumental-decorative painting "cattle drive in Montana," highly appreciated the brilliant sculptor E. Unknown. This is a landmark painting is striking both in size and density and texture is depicted by the brush of the masters events.

A. Kalashnikov is the author of numerous works on ancient and mythological subjects: "Ancient motif", "Argonauts Hercules", "the Battle of Alexander the great with Darius when Gaugamela", "Danae", "Samson and Delilah", "Bathsheba", "the rape of the Sabine women", etc.

A. Kalashnikov cooperated with another famous artist - M. Brusilovsky. The result of their two years of joint creativity - 5 giant canvases on display at the exhibition "Carnival", held in Ekaterinburg Museum of fine arts in the spring of 2007: "Invitation to walk", "the Carnival of Venice, Palazzo Vendramin-Calergi in Venice", "the fountain of Bakhchisarai", "the View of the old Rialto bridge and the Grand canal". In these works the artists start from the Venetian painting of the XVI century.

The works of A. Kalashnikova are in art museums and galleries in Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Perm, Krasnoyarsk and Moscow, as well as in private collections in Russia, Czech Republic, Germany, Canada and the United States.
