Biography and information

Born in a peasant family. Along with twin brother Joseph-Boniface (who also became a painter) for two years studied the art of the engraver school in Grenoble. The result of the revolutionary events of 1792 the twins were in David's Studio in Paris and received a government pension for four years. The brothers were good students, and David even invited Jean-Pierre to help him in his work on "the Sabine women". in 1807 Frank participated in the competition for ordering canvases, celebrating the victory of Napoleon at Eylau, won by Gros. In 1810 Frank wrote the painting "Allegory of France's requests to return from Egypt." By order of the state in the late 1830s—early 1840s, Frank wrote a huge series of portraits of famous Frenchmen.
