Russia • born in 1945

From 1979 to 1983 he taught at the people's correspondence University of arts (ZNUI).

Organized a Studio of artistic photography in DC, Moscow state University (1985-87).

From 1992 to 1997 he was a member of the Commission on state prizes in fine art under the President of the Russian Federation, expert on photography.

As a photographer and participated in many exhibitions (Russia, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France, Switzerland, America, England), has held 5 solo exhibitions in different countries. Works are in collections in the Pushkin Museum. Pushkin gallery, The Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, the Museum of "fine Art" in Boston, in private collections and galleries.

He teaches at the Moscow state University named after M. V. Lomonosov, faculty of journalism (photocomposite and bildredaktion, fundamentals of design) and "Academy of Classic Photography"

In 2003, Alexander Lapin goes the first edition of "Photography as..." which quickly becomes a bestseller. This book deals with the theory of black-and-white documentary photography, photocomposition laws, psychology of perception photography. There is an analysis of the principle of assessment and analysis of photographic images.

In 2006 they released the book: "Plane and space, or Life square".

In 2009, the White Shop at the Winery Epson and Leica presented the exhibition "Lapin School", which exhibited more than 300 photos of Alexander Lapin and his disciples.
