LUIS TRISTAN DE ESCAMILLA (Luis Tristan de Escamilla) - 1586 Toledo -7 Dec 1624, Toledo Spanish painter. He was born in a family of artists. His father died when he was young, and a few years later his mother, Ana de Escamilla, rented a hotel in Toledo. He had several brothers, one of whom, Baltazar, was a Dominican monk and the other, who called himself "de Acevedo" (de Acevedo) was a painter of landscapes (it is unknown).

Approximately в1603 Luis Tristan came to the workshop of El Greco as a pupil. The great artist, he studied for several years. The first mention of it, as an independent artist, appearing in 1606. He was a close friend of the son of El Greco by Jorge Manuel Theotokopoulos.
