Biography and information

Otoh Players studied at the Riga city art school (1913 – 15).

In 1916 he was drafted into the army and fought in the First world war.

He then continued his studies at the Latvian Academy of arts under the guidance of Professor J. R. Tillbergs (1921 – 25) and V. Purvitis (1926 – 29), but the Academy O. Pladers was unfinished.

The artist worked as a teacher in Lubotsky high school, and later at the art school of Tartu "Pallas" (1925 – 26).

He has also worked as a designer in National Opera (1936), restorer of the Museum of fine arts (1938).

After world war II O. Pladers worked as a teacher at the Riga art school of J. Rozentals.

The artist was a member of the society of Independent artists (1923 – 1940), took part in the exhibitions of the society since 1923.

In 1930, he went with a scholarship of Fund of culture in the creative journey to Paris, where he studied impressionist painting, which later influenced the work of O. Pladers.

His personal exhibitions are organized in Riga (1930., 1932.(V. Linden), 1967.).
