Mother, Claudia K. Mikhailov taught mathematics in schools and Pedagogical Institute.
In 1960 graduated from the mathematical faculty of the Moscow state pedagogical Institute (now the Pedagogical University).

Edelman teaches mathematics at Krasnoyarsk school, entered the postgraduate school of Moscow state pedagogical Institute in the Department of higher algebra, deals with the problems of mathematical logic. After finishing graduate school, Edelman teaches in MESI and Moscow schools, continuing intensively engaged in painting and graphics.
During these years, a lot of draws, cuts linocuts, paints a series of Siberian landscapes ("Krasnyy Yar", "Alignment marks", etc.), still lifes. There are a series of landscapes of Uglich, Kirillov, Ferapontov, Siberia, the Baltic States, the Crimea, the Moscow suburbs, the graphic cycles.
