Doctor of architecture (1958). He graduated from the Moscow school of painting (1908). In 1918-21 he served in ing. troops of the red army. In 1922 with A. Shchusev worked on the project of building vseros. agricultural and handicraft prom. exhibition. In 1924-35 he lived and worked in the United States. In 1935-38 chief architect VSHV. Arrested (1938), to 1943 he was imprisoned and exiled; in 1939-42 he worked as a Manager. construction Department of Workoutsthat and chief architect of the city of Vorkuta. One of the authors of a high-rise hotel "Ukraine" (1957) in Moscow and the project of reconstruction of Department store and restaurant "Prague" (1950) and other works.
