"Ensign son." A graduate of the Academy of arts from 1767, he Received medals: in 1778 – 2 silver; in 1780, 1 silver; in 1782 – 1 gold for the program: "fun house". In the same year received the title of artist XIV class and was sent abroad at government expense for 4 years. In 1787 defined in the Academy of arts acting associate Professor; and in 1794 he received the title of academician, was promoted to associate Professor and was appointed inspector of the academic buildings; and in 1799 appointed by the architect of Gatchina; in 1802 he was elected member of the Academy of arts; in 1803 was appointed senior architect of the Academy for teaching; from 1805 – Chief of the Admiralty, the architect and his Builder.
