These types of studies and different localities from the vicinity of Petersburg, Novgorod and Chernigov provinces were forced to assume that the young artist will eventually become a wonderful painter of Russian nature. During his stay at the Academy Gogin received a small (in 1857) and large (in 1858 for the "View oaklets near St. Petersburg"), silver medal. In 1863 he was released from the Academy with the title of the class artist, and in 1868 received the degree of academician of landscape painting.
