He was born in 1948. In 1968 he graduated from the painting Department of the Ryazan art College, and in 1977– the Moscow Higher art-industrial school. Since 1977 lecturer, since 1978 also the Director of the Ryazan art school. Member of the Union of designers of Russia. Participant of group and personal exhibitions in Ryazan, Moscow, Yaroslavl and abroad. The work of Vasily Ivanovich Caldina located in the Ryazan art Museum, the Museum - reserve of S. A. Yesenin, as well as in private collections in Russia, Germany, Italy, France and Spain.

Since 1977, a teacher and since 1978 — Director of the Ryazan art school. Member of the Union of designers of Russia. In 1996 he completed 30 new paintings for a French pharmaceutical company.
In 1996-1998 he participated in the international festival landscape in the city of Mans (France). In 1998. received second award in the "watercolor" of this festival.
Participant of exhibitions in Ryazan, Moscow, Yaroslavl and abroad. In 2000 he completed a series of landscapes of the city of Torgau (Germany) for construction company.
