Edwin Austin Abbey (1852-1911) American and English painter, Illustrator.

He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the fine arts. As an Illustrator collaborated mainly with the magazine Harper's Weekly. Illustrated books of famous authors, including Shakespeare, wrote on historical themes. From 1878 he lived in the UK; knighted. In 1898 he was elected a fellow of the Royal Academy of arts, in 1902 he was the official portrait painter at the coronation of Edward VII.

Among the most famous works is the mural "Quest of the Holy Grail" ("The Quest for the Holy Grail") (1901) in the building of the Boston public library murals in the Capitol of Pennsylvania.
