Ivar Axel Henrik Arosenius (the Swede. Ivar Arosenius, 8 Oct 1878, Gothenburg — January 2, 1909, Ellwangen) — Swedish artist and Illustrator, one of the most famous representatives of the Swedish symbolism. His most famous books, the Swede. Kattresan ("the cat Journey") was published posthumously in 1909.

Born in the family of a former engineer. He studied painting in Gothenburg Karl Wilhelmson during the year in 1897, and then was accepted into the Academy of fine arts in Stockholm. Disappointed with the academic education, and first attended as a student at art school at the Union of Artists (the Swede. Konstnärsförbundet), where he studied with Richard Berg, and in 1901 returned to Gothenburg, where she continued her studies at the Karl Wilhelmson. Came under the strong influence of the Danish artist OLE Kruse, visited Gothenburg, and became interested in medieval and folk art.

In 1904, through Munich, I arrived in Paris. After rybatzkoe the village of Coudeville (FR. Coudeville) returned to Paris, where in 1905 he participated in the Salon of independents (FR. Salon des Indépendants). His work has received positive feedback from the audience, which significantly raised the self-esteem of the artist. In the same year the artist returned to Sweden, in Stockholm held its first personalna the exhibition, which displays 173. Back in Gothenburg, Arosenius met with the IDA (Eva) Adler (b. 1879). Married her in 1906 and moved with his wife in Åby (the Swede. Åby) near norrköping, where was born their daughter Lillian. In 1907 the family moved to a cottage in Ellwangen (the Swede. Älvängen) in the vicinity of Gothenburg. In the paintings of Arosenius last years of his life the permanent plot are the dark rooms of a cottage with figures of his wife and daughter. At the same time he develops mythological and folkloric themes in his watercolors.

In 1906-1907, Arosenius collaborates with Newspapers and Strix Söndags-Nisse. Latest releases April 21, 1907 a room entirely made up of works of the artist.

In 1908 there was a big exhibition of the artist, first in Lund, then in the gallery Valann (the Swede. Valand) at Gothenburg. The Gothenburg Museum of art acquired several of his works.

Died at the age of thirty years of hemophilia (both of his brothers also died from hemophilia). In honor of the artist named Fund of Arosenius formed the Swedish Hemophilia Society for research[1].
