Biography and information

Ian Weissenbruch (NID. Jan Weissenbruch, rod. March 18, 1822, the Hague — mind. February 15, 1880, the Hague) was a Dutch painter, one of the best representatives of the Hague school in the field of the urban landscape.

Ya Weissenbruch was a nephew of the famous Dutch painter Johan Hendrik Weissenbruch. In 1839-1847, he studied at the Hague Academy of arts. Together with the artist Johann Willem J. Weissenbruch is one of the founders of the group Pulchri Studio. One of the main themes in the artist's work was a picture, sometimes very thorough, species and landscapes of Dutch cities, bridges, canals, etc. Wrote in his paintings he mainly in his native the Hague, but sometimes also in Leerdam, Culemborg (Gelderland) and Belgium (e.g. Liege).

In addition to painting, J. Weissenbruch created and graphic works - watercolors, lithographs, etc.
