Laufer

Emil Johann Laufer (Czech. Emil Johann Lauffer, rod. June 28, 1837, the Palace Bruntal, Moravia — mind. May 31, 1909, Prague) was a Czech painter. Professor and Director of the Prague Academy of fine arts.

Born in the family of the pharmacist Laufer Ferdinand and his wife Amalia Spacer. The elder brother of Emile, the poet Ferdinand Josef Laufer who took part in the Czech rebellion of 1848, after its suppression, was forced to flee abroad. Art education E. Laufer received in Vienna, Academy of fine arts. Then settles in Prague. Worked on the decoration of the Belvedere Palace in Hradcany, where she applied design, made even during their studies in Vienna. Also participated, along with other artists, in the decoration of the foyer of the National theatre in Prague.
