Niccolo di Bonaccorso, or Niccolo di Buonaccorso (ital. Niccolo di Buonaccorso, according to documents he worked in Siena from 1355— mind.1388) — Italian painter, Sienese school.
Date of birth unknown; few surviving documents mention his name with 1355 at 1388. According to some reports he came to Siena from Prato. In 1355 the name of Nicolo di Bonaccorso appears in the list of the Guild of Sienese painters. In the Sienese Republic, he had an impressive career not only as a painter but also as a capable administrator. From 1372 to 1377, the year he was part of the Council – the highest government body of the Republic of Siena, and in 1381 was elected to the honorary position of gonfaloniere (standard-bearer) in the parish of St Martin. With some certainty it can be argued that, occupying such a high position, Niccolo could count on a very prestigious orders. However, from the preserved heritage of the artist are the bulk of small portable altars, and this was the reason that among the researchers of the history of art have confirmed the point of view of Niccolo di Bonaccorso as a minor Sienese painter that is not quite right. Indeed, the main body of his works are small works often with the same biblical themes and ways to display it; also there is no information about how to Niccolo painted the frescoes on the temples. However, we must remember that the work is only a small part of what is created by this wizard.
To have survived only two signed works by the artist – "the betrothal of Mary" from the National gallery, London, and "Madonna and child" from the gallery, Timken, San Diego.
"Madonna and child" from the gallery, Timken has the inscription NICHOLAUS BONACHURSI ME PINXIT A. DNI 1387 (Nikolaus Bonacorsi wrote me 1387г. A. d,), and was once the Central panel of a large altarpiece in the Church of Santa Margherita in Costalpino. This altar was created by the artist over a year before his death, and is known in art history as "Polyptych Montecchio", more about him in 1854 mentioned the great scholar of Italian painting, Gaetano Milanesi. For many years it was considered lost until, while miklós Boskovice not found another panel of this altar – "SV. Lawrence with a group of worshippers at his feet" (I. Sant'andrea Montecchio). This discovery gives hope to find the other parts. Today two panels of the altar, each the size of 190х80см are the large format works of Nicolo di Bonaccorso. Slightly smaller format, 110х75 see a small altar "Episodes from the New Testament" (Siena, Pinacoteca).
Other products that came from his brush, is a modest-sized diptychs, triptychs, and a separate part of the small altars. Their sizes range from 80х60см 45х30 to see Such a small folding or polyptych usually used for prayer in private homes.

Among such works created Niccolo, more than all the well-known triptych, consisting of "Betrothal of Mary" (national gallery, London), "the introduction of Mary into the temple" (Uffizi Gallery, Florence) and "Coronation of Mary" (the Metropolitan Museum of art, new York).
