Like many other famous Portuguese painters of the Renaissance, C. de Figueiredu at the beginning of the XVI century was a student in the art workshop of the court master Georges Afonso, in the Portuguese capital. Between 1522 and 1533 Figueiredo works at the monastery of Santa Cruz in Coimbra. In 1533, he participated in writing the altar painting for the Ferreirim monastery near Lamega. Many paintings by C. de Figueiredo are kept in the National Museum of Ancient Art in Lisbon and in the National Museum Machado de Castro in Coimbra.
