People's Artist of Ukraine, Honored Artist of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine. T.G. Shevchenko, holder of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and the Badge of Honor, one of the best colorists and most temperamental painters among the numerous masters of the landscape. The leitmotif of his landscapes is the struggle of light and shadow, of storms and peace.

A native of Smolensk, he graduated from the Moscow Art and Industrial School of. M.I. Kalinin, and in 1950 the Moscow State Art Institute. V.I. Surikov, Faculty of Painting. His teachers were famous Russian artists A.V. Lentulov, G.G. Riga, V.V. Favorsky, I.I. Chekmazov, who taught him not only professional skills, but also instilled a love for the beautiful, for the great Russian national heritage.

After graduation, Zakharov was a teacher at the Simferopol Art College named after N.S. Samokisha, since 1953 a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, a participant of the Republican, and since 1954 All-Union exhibitions. He embodied the traditions of Russian and Ukrainian landscape painters, with a desire for a philosophical and emotional understanding of reality. He was individual and original.

The main content of the artist's work is the Crimean landscape. Zakharov gained fame as one of the most famous singers of the Crimean nature. The mountains, gardens and vineyards, stretching at their feet, the tense working life of the port workers of Yalta, the cherished corners associated with the stay of Pushkin, Gorky, Chekhov, Leo Tolstoy, Mickiewicz ... The sea is affectionate, quiet, menacing roaring, everything than the southern coast of Crimea is gloriously, many times, in the most varied motifs and variations, Zakharov wrote ...

Fyodor Zakharov was always keen on the coastal wave, beating on the rocks. In his thin paintings in color water is transparent, the wave is light and mobile. He never betrays his beloved Black Sea.

His theme is the life of nature. He distinguishes the main components of its elements - shape, color and light, and finds plastic expression for them. He reveals and transmits their relationship, recognizes and shows the action of the forces of nature - rain and wind, snowfall, sunrise and sunset, and the change of seasons.

In the canvases of the artist, the depth of the author's thought sometimes reaches philosophical generalization. Juicy broad brushstroke, richness of light shades give Zakharov landscapes emotional sound, lyrical mood.

In his first works in the Crimea, he shows the enchanting nature of the region - the old cities with their small picturesque streets and new health resorts, the ports of Yalta and Kerch with their working days.

In the painting “At the Stones” (1957), in a beautiful range of lilac tones, there is a scattering of stones on the seashore. “In the first greenery” (1960) one can feel the freshness of spring days in the vicinity of Yalta. “In the Autumn” (1969), built on a light comparison of the earth faded from the sun, with a lonely tree near a house with intricate architecture and a dark blue sky, transferred an amazing state of nature resting from the heat.

In landscapes, he is not limited to portraying specific details, but seeks to push the scope of first impressions and more accurately convey the state of nature in a generalized way.

The absolute authenticity of the state of nature, the clarity of compositional constructions, fresh coloristic solutions are distinguished by his works: “Last snow. March evening "(1981)," Spring. Warm evening "(1981)," The sea is stormy "(1984).

As well as landscapes, Zakharov's still lifes are distinguished for their high professionalism, subtle compositional solution, and rich color gamut. In still lifes, he sought to reflect not only the beauty of the surrounding world and solve the complex painterly tasks characteristic of the master of Russian painting.

In the still life “Roses and Fruits” (1970) - against the background of black evening windows, red and yellow roses standing in vases on a table are lit with electric light, burning like colored stones; and then orange oranges and red-cheeked apples, shimmer and reflect in the polishing of the dark table and the whiteness of the window sill. Of all the flowers, Zakharov loved roses, which are reflected in many canvases.

He worked a lot as a marine painter: - "On the shores of Yalta" (1985), "After the Rain" (1964), "Surf" (1970).

Many works of the artist are in the museums of Simferopol, Kharkov, Odessa, Omsk. His works visited Yugoslavia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Japan, and France.

In a conversation with the doctor of biological sciences, Professor Golubev VG, the latter asked: “we love nature, I, as a botanist, you as an artist. Nature is diverse, there are many beautiful corners of the Earth; Is the artist not closing on individual ones? "

Zakharov replied: “I constantly live and work in the Crimea, to which I dedicated many of my works. But no matter how beautiful this or that corner of the Earth is, the artist cannot close in it. I was convinced of this, having been sung by Ukrainian poets and artists Sedneva. It was Sednev, with its high hills and immense valleys, with silver saucers of lakes and willows leaning over the wave, Sednev is equally beautiful in the wild flowering of nature and at the time of snow deposits, deeply struck my imagination. Sednev seemed to have opened my eyes, made me take a fresh look at the nature of Ukraine, at the problems of landscape painting in general. I write with delight Sednev, but I have not changed my long-standing attachment to the Crimea. ”

Doctor of Biological Sciences, Academician Kuznetsov Nikolai Nikolayevich asked: “What are your favorite works?”

Zakharov called: - “Before the Storm” (1954), “Spring” (1962), “Last Floes” (1965), “Fresh Wind” (1967), “Near the Pier” (1967), “New Street. Sednev under construction "(1979).

In 1987, for a series of landscapes and still lifes "My dear Ukraine", Zakharov was awarded the State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR. T.G. Shevchenko, he transferred the monetary value to the cultural fund.

In 1994, Zakharov died.

In the works of the laureate of the Shevchenko State Prize, the People's Artist of Ukraine - Fyodor Zakharov, who lived in Yalta, the Crimean landscapes became widely known.

A graduate of the Surikov Moscow Art Institute, a regular participant in exhibitions, widely known in the CIS countries and far abroad, he taught at the Samokish Simferopol Art School. In his work until the last years of his life F. Zakharov sang about the greatness of the South Coast. Powerful brushstroke, richness of color shades in his landscapes give them a bright emotional sound. The tenderness of the sun's rays and the transparency of the shadows in many of the master's works create the unique color of his handwriting.
