Born in Leningrad in 1945 in a family with rich artistic traditions.The grandfather of L. A. Sokolova was one of the founders of the present Union of artists,her father was a Professor of St. Petersburg Institute of painting,sculpture and architecture im.Repin,art historian mother.Well-known artist,member of Union of artists of Russia,corresponding member of Academy of humanitarian Sciences.Currently working in the field of painting on porcelain,and participated in many exhibitions in Russia and abroad.Work Sokolova L. A. are in museums of St. Petersburg and also in Europe,USA and Australia.

A graduate of the Leningrad Higher art-industrial school im. V. Muhina (1971). Member of artists Union (since 1975). Prior to 1985 he held the position of chief artist of St. Petersburg experienced porcelain factory. For many years, created based on sketches L. A. Sokolova art porcelain products accounted for the bulk of production, which were produced by the company. Since 1999 he is corresponding member of the Academy of Humanitarian Sciences. Since 2002, Sokolov teaches at State University of service and Economics at the Department of Decorative arts. In 2005 she was awarded a diploma of the Russian Academy of arts.
L. A. Sokolov - the Exhibitor more than 130 exhibitions in Russia and abroad (USA). Recent solo exhibitions of the artist held at the art Center. Diaghilev, St. Petersburg State University (2004, St. Petersburg) and in the exhibition hall of the magazine "Our heritage" (2005, Moscow). Works are stored in funds of the State Museum of history of St. Petersburg State Museum of theatrical and musical art, the Russian Museum of A. S. Pushkin all-Russian Museum-reserve "Mikhailovskoye", Kursk art gallery, House of artists in Moscow, the galleries of Orel, Perm, Pskov, and also in foreign collections: the gallery of R. Garren (Chattanooga, USA), the private Museum Finley (Chattanooga, USA), gallery of Oklahoma city (Oklahoma city, USA).
