After graduating from the Ural College of Applied Arts, in 1977, Yu. Novoselov moved by distribution to the city of Kurgan. In the same year, his creative activity begins. He begins to practice the poster.
At that time, the usual practice of exhibition activities was built from participation in city exhibitions with a transition to regional ones. Then it was possible to try to participate in zonal exhibitions and, having fixed at this level, it is possible to submit works to an all-Union exhibition. And then, if you are a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR and graduated from some central art university. And getting to the international exhibition was possible only through Moscow.
But since Yuri Novoselov, in his youthful years, could not yet understand this "maze", he decided in his own way. And he sent in 1977, by mail, several of his first posters to the International Exhibition of Posters and Applied Graphics in Czechoslovakia, in Brno at the VIII Biennale. And one of the posters was accepted for the exhibition, entered the exposition and catalog of the Biennale.
Yu. Novoselov was born on May 15, 1952 in the city of Asbest, Sverdlovsk Region. He received his first artistic skills in Asbest in the Palace of Culture in the art studio of A. Tsvirenko.
After studying for a year at an art school, in 1972 he left for the army, after the army he continued his studies.
After working two years after the distribution in the city of Kurgan, he moved with his family to the city of Kostanay in 1979. And here he continues to engage in creative work as a poster. From the same year, begins to actively participate in regional and republican art exhibitions.
In Kostanay graduates from the State University. A. Baitursynova. In 1981, he was admitted to the youth association of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan. In the same year they are sent to the House of Creativity of the Union of Artists of the USSR in the city of Palanga (Lithuanian SSR), to the all-Union group of poster artists.
The formation and maturity of Yu. Novoselov took place on Kazakh land. Working in the Kostanai art and production workshops of the Kazkhudfond of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan as an artist, he was the Chair of the creative section of the workshops, a member of the Art Council, the Chair of the Art Council, the director of workshops for different years.
In 1986 he was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR.
In 1982, Yuri makes his first bookplate for the International Exhibition in Poland in Malborg. Since then, the passion for small graphics has become constant. He made more than 100 bookplates.
There is also an interest in industrial graphics. This interest in monograms and logos has grown from a hobby to a constant occupation and has more than 200 characters.
At the beginning of the 80s of the last century, the poster became a vivid phenomenon in Kazakhstan, thanks to the activity of young poster artists from Almaty and Kostanay. Together with other types of fine art, he turned out to be one of the most lively and moving areas of creative search. Non-replicated pages appeared, made by artists without an order from the publishing house "at the behest of the heart." These things, called the "author's plaque", and played an important role. The artist's creative path is inextricably linked with the development of this art form.
Participating in many exhibitions, representing Kostanay, Yu. Novoselov repeatedly received prizes and prizes at national, all-Union and international poster and bookplate competitions: in Almaty 1988, 1991, Astana 2009, 2011, Moscow 1983 1985, Poland 1988
In the late 80s there was a splash in poster art. There were no forbidden topics. Conducted a mass of poster postings in different regions of the USSR. Unlike other types of art, the poster was on the rise. Demand for the poster was great. The poster has always been booming at tipping points in history. So it was in the 20s and 40s of the last century. However, with the collapse of the USSR, the need for poster art decreased. And by the mid-90s, a poster, as an art form, was no longer needed. Replacing the poster came advertising. The word "creativity" was replaced by the word "creativity"
Yu. Novoselov begins to engage in industrial graphics and painting. Sends bookplates to various international exhibitions, responding to invitations.
In painting, the theme for several years is flowers.
At the beginning of the 21st century, in connection with the preparations for the anniversary exhibition, in 2002, Yuri Dmitrievich returned to the poster genre and made a series of social posters of 50 works. In this series, he decided to use the topics that he had accumulated, made es ¬ ky. A poster is considered an art that should reflect today's moment. Yuri turned to the "eternal" theme in art. His series of cries was unexpected for the viewer, because in its conceptual and expressive capacity, the poster became close to easel art. And at the same time, being connected with the surrounding material environment, being a part of it, he embodied design concepts. Topics covered are generally relevant, exciting all of humanity, topics in which moral and ethical ideals are refracted, emotional and psychological realities. The following years, Yuri became interested in portraiture and has been doing it for several years. He is working on a series of posters on the theme of Kazakh proverbs and sayings.
