Anne Devroyer-Stills, curator of the Anatole Jakovsky International Museum of Naïve Art, writes about Claude's work this way:
Claude Ullmann-Cote is a French artist of Swiss origin currently living in Gare. She naturally draws inspiration from naive art, showing an interest in popular art. Indeed, her predilection for painted furniture gradually led this to a more personal expression.
These are very moving, long and narrow scenes describing an epic on the plains and mountains. Everything takes place as a procession of cattle and farmers moving from one side of the panel to the other in the soft light of the landscape without shadows.
The artist depicts only happiness: the harmony of the valley, the slow and serene steps of the animals, the tenderness of the mountain pastures... right down to the ringing of the bells that set the rhythm to the march of the clock and the animals. A universe that has become timeless through the magic of its author's painting.
Claude Ullmann-Cote is also not without humor in drawing scenes from everyday life, where the main role is often played by people.
A life without wrinkles, without limitations, where serenity is omnipresent.
