Church of the ASSUMPTION (Novoselytsia)

Design and applied art, XXI century, 30×25 cm

Description of the artwork «Church of the ASSUMPTION (Novoselytsia)»

The architectural basis of the "assumption Church" became the namesake Church in the village of Novoselytsia in the Western Ukraine.
The basic forms were made of matchsticks, layer by layer, and polished with a file. The roof is composed of straw stalks of the broom. The innovative features of Windows created from matchsticks, cut the length in half and into 4 pieces. All this was done back in 1991.
A distinctive feature of the work is used as a decorative finishing material – ordinary toothpicks. Their sharp parts were cut off at an angle and glued on the joints of the straws. This made the work more original, neat and attractive. From toothpicks were made and crosses. Round base, made of Plexiglas and a few semi-precious stones, as well as a collage on the theme of ancient Slavic gods appeared much later – in the preparation of a series of exhibitions in the early twenty-first century.
