The son of the painter Pierre and his aunt Louise, sister Marie, pictured in the garden of the house of Sevres Pokemonov. In the 90-ies Marie abandoned painting, tired of the constant jealousy of her success to her husband, also an artist. This painting is one of her latest works. But Marie Bracquemond managed to do enough to be proclaimed "one of the three ladies of impressionism".
The legacy of the artist is not very large. Favorite topics: garden, walks, tea in nature – it all fits in the habitation outside the city, and the concept of impressionism. Marie Bracquemond embraced the impressionist style as a long-awaited freedom,
"like a window opened" she used to say about his acquaintance with
Monetand
Renoir. At that, Marie, as a rule, in the open air sketching, sketches, drawings, and then often finishing a picture in the Studio. Thus, the spontaneity in the works of Marie Bracquemond is certainly present... but it is quite thoughtful.
In the picture
"Pierre and his aunt Louise in the garden" the landscape is painted in green tones – a gradation from almost yellow to almost black, successfully shows the reflections of the sun on the foreground and the shadowed trunks in the depth of the canvas. The space is enlivened with contrasting red flowers, depicted schematically, thick brush strokes. The figures of the son and sister of the artist written in the impressionistic manner, but quite detailed. Sunlight plays delicately on the dress Louise: the hem of a brightly lit, while the upper part of the figure girls are shaded.
Thus, the picture we see a typical impressionistic landscape, while the characters, of course, not posing like an academic portrait, but impressionistic effect flash frame (
1,
2,
3) in the work Marie Bracquemond, we do not observe, the composition enough thought.
