Witing Nicholas I. (02.01.1910– 08.06.1991)
One of the most talented, unjustly forgotten artists included in the research work of Olga Roytenberg "Does anyone remember what we had."
Painter, graphic artist, Illustrator and designer of books. Member of the Union of artists of the USSR. He painted classical themes and production themes. Known in the late monotypes.
Born in Bryansk. In 1927-1928 he took part in courses at the House of artistic education in Moscow at K. Yuon.
In 1928-1932 he studied courses at the Association "Workshop of painters" in K. Morozov, K. Suraeva, N. Frolova.
In 1934-1942 he studied on the graphic faculty of MIII-MGHI S. Gerasimov and P. Pavlinov.
However, most heavily on the creative consciousness of the young artist was influenced by the organizer of the "Workshop of painters", the author of the Manifesto "Tsvetodinamos and tectonic primitivism" A. V. Shevchenko.
From 1930 he participated in exhibitions.
He was a member of the Association "Workshop of painters" (1930), Union of workers of arts (1931-1932), in 1942-1943 he worked in the Studio of military artists to them. M. B. Grekova. Among his works: "In the shop of the Tula arms factory in 1919" (gouache, 1955, RMR, USSR), "Partisans" (AKV. 1957, ibid.). Illustrator and designer of books for Detgiz, Goslitizdat, publishing house "Young guard", with whom he actively collaborated. In his work he was occupied primarily with the exploration and development of relevant topics, producing adequate to Express the spirit of the times pictorial language.
The creativity of the artist is expressive expressiveness and special
musicality. The picturesque building works of Nicholas of Witing is clear and plastically
concise, well-organized rhythmically and techniques perfect.
Over time, these qualities in his painting and graphics are enhanced, acquiring
more monumental and decorative.
