People's Artist of the RSFSR.
Born February 10, 1918 in the town of Alexandrovsk-Grushevsky (in 1921 renamed city of Mine, which is now in the Rostov region). Parents are farmers, and shortly thereafter moved to Rostov-on-don in search of work. In 1939, Vladimir Tokarev enrolled in the Rostov art College. In 1941 was mobilized into the army. From 1942 to 1945 he was in German captivity in Norway, where a German, the camp commander, who himself was an artist, encouraged classes of prisoner of war, supplied him with paper, pencils and a fountain pen, and even let him draw outside the camp. One such pen drawing depicting a Norwegian mountain landscape, is preserved in the family of F. V. Tokarev, another "horse's Head", dated 1944, is in the collection of Alexander Gremitskikh.
In 1945 Vladimir Tokarev was released from the camp, returned to Rostov-on-don, and in 1946 continued his studies at the Rostov art College named after M. B. Grekov A. M. Chernykh, from which he graduated with honors in 1948.
From 1948 to 1953, Vladimir Tokarev studied at the Leningrad state Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture. I. E. Repin Academy of arts in the workshop of M. I. Avilov graduated from the Institute at a workshop at the Y. M. Neprintsev. Diploma work — painting "Water flows".
Since 1955, V. F. Tokarev became a member of the Union of Soviet artists of the USSR and a constant participant of almost all all-Union and Republican exhibitions although the exhibitions began to attend regularly since 1948. Member of the Union of artists of Russian Federation since 1963.
Since the 1970s, and until his death, which occurred on 25 August 1988, lived and worked in his own Studio-house in the village of Cesarino, the Tver region, near the house of the artists ' work "Academic dacha".
From 1958 по1961 year Vladimir Fedorovich Tokarev was the permanent artistic Director in the House of creativity "Academic dacha". I. E. Repin.
In 1980 he had a solo exhibition in Leningrad, which is then exhibited in Moscow and then traveled exactly 30 cities of the Russian Federation (Lipetsk, Tula, Belgorod, Orel, Rostov-on-don, Stavropol, Ulyanovsk, Smolensk, Samara, Tver, Ivanovo, Kaliningrad, Petrozavodsk, Arkhangelsk, Vyatka, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Tyumen, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Novokuznetsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Nakhodka, Elista, Izhevsk). Almost all of this traveling exhibition have been acquired by museums.
The works of Vladimir Fedorovich Tokarev are in many museums of Russia and CIS countries: the State Russian Museum, the Museum of the Academy of fine arts in St. Petersburg, the State Tretyakov gallery in Moscow, Art Museum of Kaliningrad (Konigsberg), in the Art Museum in Pskov, the Museum of modern art in Vladivostok, in the Art Museum Rostov-on-don, Museum of Russian art in Kiev.
In 1996 in the town of Vishny Volochok Tver region held a solo exhibition of the artist.
In addition to easel painting Vladimir Fedorovich worked in the graphic techniques of watercolor, gouache, charcoal and pencil.
In private collections his works are in Russia, Germany, England, France and the United States.
