Description of the artwork «Portrait of Blaise Pascal, philosopher and mathematician»

The most famous image of Pascal is a man as a “thinking reed”: “this is a reed, the weakest creature in nature, but it is a reed thinking”. Pascal wrote - like Boethius, Abelard, like a true thinker - on the edge, over the abyss, at the cost of soul, health, heart and blood. His words are not abstract theories, his thoughts are experienced personally and deeply. So called: "Thoughts." Human existence turned out to be the main issue for Blaise Pascal. And interest in the existential philosopher of the artist Olga Akashi is caused by this question. “Portrait of Blaise Pascal, a mathematician and a philosopher” by the Kiev portrait master Olga Akashi joins the artist’s philosophical panopticon, continuing the portraits of Boethius, Machiavelli, and Francis from Assisi. Ahead - conceived images of William Ockham, Pierre Abelard, Augustine. If “eloquence is the painting of the word”, then Olga Akashi's painting is the eloquence of the brush.
