Vasilyevich Lozhkin

1881−1942
Alexander Lozhkin was born on 18 Aug 1881 in Moscow.
At the beginning of the last century, Alexander graduated from the Stroganov school (state stipendiat). Lozhkin specialty was, first of all, great chart, one of the most talented representatives of the "Silver age" that have left their traces in many spheres of art. In 1900-1912, she worked as an artist in the Moscow branch of the famous jewelry firm Faberge. Produced sketches to implement the products of this company.
Roughly in 1910 Lozhkin married Mary Vasilievna Leneveu – talented student of the famous Russian designer N. P. Lamanova.
The artist lived permanently in Moscow: until 1914, first in the house to the address: Malaya Bronnaya ul., 21 (preserved in converted form), and in the period from 1914 to 1933 he lived near the Georgians in the mansion city estate Petrovo-Solovovo at the address: Bolshaya Gruzinskaya ul., 32 (house preserved in its rebuilt form). Real watercolor painting of the costumes of the dancers for the Opera by M. P. Mussorgsky "Khovanshchina" (Persian slave Prince Ivan Khovansky) made by the artist A. V. Lozhkin (1881-1942) for decorative design showing the Russian Opera and ballet in Paris in 1910-1913gg. (Seasons Of Sergei Diaghilev). The original work is in the Museum of theatrical arts. A. A. Bakhrushin (Moscow).
In this period, the artist worked closely with the publishing house I. N. Knebel and illustrated children's books. Public interest was the cooperation of A. V. Lozhkin in illustrating, together with other known Russian artists of the edition called "the Great war in images and paintings" covering the events of the first world war.
From 1917 to 1921, he served in the red Army. After the October revolution, Lozhkin together with other artists worked on the decoration of the revolutionary celebrations and party meetings at the Bolshoi theater of the USSR, military and sports parades on the red square in Moscow.
From 1918 he taught at the VHUTEMAS, VHUTEINE, worked as an artist at the Bolshoi theatre, probably in the workshop of F. F. Fedorovsky (1883-1955), his friend and chief artist of the theater. In addition, continued illustrating books for children (Goskinoizdat).
On 5 January 1942, the A. V. Lozhkin was arrested by the NKVD MO, was sentenced on 7 March 1942 and charged under article 58-10 Part 2. The verdict: the case was dismissed for death of the accused on 11 March 1942. So tragically ended the life of a remarkable representative of the "Silver age" of Russian culture
