Description of the artwork «Without Hope»
"One of the most tragic works of Vladimir Ryklin.
Pain, grief, anger, and shame just spill out from the canvas to the stunned audience. Artsy, tortured poses and lines, tragic, dark color of a stormy sky, contrasting sharply with the bright scarlet robe “the Accuser” defenseless and naked image of the “Hanged man”, forcing us again and again to relive the unfolding drama.
And yet, despite all the tragedy and horror of what is happening, the weak lights of the menorah that cuts through the darkness, remind us of the Mercy of the Creator, and about Hope, even where it would seem its not...
The story of the creation of this work refers to personal experience of the author and family drama played out in front of him. Brother Vladimir Ryklin - James, after several years of living in Israel, converted to Christianity, after which he turned away from relatives and friends, and he was subjected to ostracism and rejection.."
