Icarus
Louis

France • 1888−1950
Ikar Louis - French painter, draftsman, printmaker and Illustrator, is the author of numerous works of glamorous content.
Born in Toulouse, France, first son of Jean and Elizabeth Icarus. Culturally rich city of Toulouse was home to many famous artists and writers, and was a source of inspiration for the artist. Although his education was initially focused on banking (the profession of his father), he soon became fascinated with the plays of Victor Hugo, whose works could read endlessly, and this fascination developed into an interest in the theatre, provoked in his soul a love of art.
Icarus in 1907 moved to Paris. It was the end of the outgoing in the past, but still shining of a Great era and the beginning of a hotly contested cubist revolution. Here he began the study of painting, drawing and printmaking. By the beginning of 1920-ies, when the style of art Deco took possession of the Parisian art scene, Icarus created the image of a glamorous woman, sensual and with a sense of humor. His works became extremely popular on the art market. However, despite all the novelty and freshness, they retained the classic lines and shapes of art of the eighteenth century, famous paintings by masters such as Jean Antoine Watteau, Francois Boucher and Jean Honore Fragonard.
Icarus worked mainly in woodcut technique. However, today's collection of his works I want to dedicate a little-known wide audience the beautiful works of the artist. Painting, according to contemporaries, Icarus worked exclusively for the soul, and rarely exhibited his paintings on public trial.
