Born in 1921 in Petrograd. He received the first drawing lessons from his father, the graphic artist Konstantin Lvovich Ivanov.

1933 Classes at the V. I. Lenin Art Studio. Works in various poster genres, mostly political.

 

1941-1945. Being at the front, he drew posters for Agitokon TASS and performed front-line sketches.

1956-1991. He worked in the workshop "Agitplakat", took an active part in its organization.

1950s – 1970s He performs satirical posters, some together with V. Briskin. As a result of trips to the USSR and foreign countries, he completed the series: “The White Sea”, “Baikal”, “Norway”, “France” and others. He created a number of sculptural works in stone and metal.

1960s – 1980s Posters for Sanprosvet, Moskontsert, Soyuzgostsirk, Reklamfilm.

1967, 1968. Gold medals (collective), 1968 Silver medal - all for health education posters at the International Competitions for Health Education Poster in Bologna.

1974. Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

1993. Performed by the emblem of Moscow; approved by the Moscow City Council.

1995. Moscow Prize for the emblem of Moscow.

From 1962-1980, Ivanov was the author of many articles about the poster (“Polish Poster”, “Poster Must Campaign”, “Baltic Poster”, “Poster Language” and others) published in the journal “Creativity”.

1965 Wrote essays in the book “Wind from the Sea. Karelian impressions of the artists K. Ivanov, R. Suryaninov, M. Heifits. "

1965, 1967 Essays in the almanac "The Wind of Wanderings" (Notes on a trip to the USSR and foreign countries), with own illustrations.
