Video Archive. Cut off van Gogh's ear: how it was

This is the famous story from the biography of van Gogh. And the most confusing. Why van Gogh cut off his ear? Who Vincent wanted to give your bloody gift? And what is Gauguin? The restored chronicle of events.
"Vincent took a razor lying on the edge of the sink, and opened it. He grabbed the criminal's ear and pulled his earlobe as far as possible, and then a compartment of the criminal flesh. Razor did not hit the top of the ear, slipped around the middle and drove all the way to the jaw. Skin cutting was easy, but the cartilage was too elastic, then it took tenacity or animal power to the flesh between the fingers finally gave way. By this time the whole arm was already in the blood."

Famous "Bedroom in Arles". To the left of the window above the vanity hangs a small mirror. Apparently, it was to this mirror Vincent tried to cut off his ear on Christmas eve 1888. Other notable items from this room read the description of the picture.

Often these works are very different, they show how van Gogh used techniques and styles, and changes in the state of mind of the author. However, can make another sad assumption: Vincent wrote so many self-portraits, due to the feeling of endless loneliness...
