Biography and information

Vladimir Galba (real name Halberstadt; 1908-1984) — Soviet cartoonist and schedule, honored artist of the RSFSR, the animal painter, Illustrator of literary works, master of political caricature, in the Russian texts granted the status of "the personal enemy of Adolf Hitler."
Galba, Vladimir A. was born 27 may 1908 in the city of Kharkov. The family moved to Petersburg, when the future artist was two.
Vladimir Galba learned from N. I. Kravchenko and A. A. Rudakova doing them in studios in the 1920-th years (1924-1928). Since 1926, the artist began to participate in exhibitions and to draw cartoons for the newspaper "Leningradskaya Pravda", "Evening Leningrad", magazines "Neva", "Spark". Anti-fascist caricatures begins to draw from the beginning of the 1930-ies. Since 1939, is an artist Association "Fighting pencil".
During the great Patriotic war, the siege of Leningrad almost every day in the "Leningradskaya Pravda" published his caricatures. Also, a lot of posters, the artist executed for the Association "Fighting pencil"
In 1945-1946, Galba V. A. were present at the Nuremberg trials as an artist-correspondent. The Galba V. A. was sent to the creative trip to France, England, Holland.
After the great Patriotic war Galba worked for various Leningrad Newspapers and magazines, was engaged in illustrating books, drawing posters. In 1959 in Leningrad, has successfully held his solo exhibition. In 1962 he participated as a guest in one of the episodes of "Blue light", demonstrated autoshare.
Died in early November 1984, buried at the Theological cemetery in Leningrad, at the tomb of the granite stele, Sosnowski Dor., educational 54.
