Fauvism is considered the first avant-garde art movement of the 20th century. It got its name in 1905 and lived only a couple of years, then each artist, calling themselves the Fauves, went deep into own creative search. The brightest representatives of the Fauvism are Henri Matisse ,  André Derain and Maurice de Vlaminck .

Impressionist and post-Impressionist masterpieces from London’s Courtauld Gallery will go on show at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris spring 2019. Works by Manet, Van Gogh and Cézanne haven't been shown in the French capital for more than 60 years.

A drawing  "Zwei Liegende" ("Two Reclining Figures") by Gustav Klimt, which disappeared from the collection of an Austrian museum, has been found in the effects of the recently deceased former secretary. The ex-museum employee, who reportedly took and hid the work years ago, described the artwork's location asking in her will for it to be returned upon her death.

A new drawing was discovered in the Van Vlissingen Art Foundation's collection. The Hill of Montmartre with Stone Quarry dating March 1886 was attributed to Vincent van Gogh by the Van Gogh Museum experts following their extensive research.
