Torello Giovanni Battista Ancelotti was born on 7 Nov 1843 in Montepulciano in southern Tuscany, Italy. I was an apprentice joiner in his father's Studio. He studied at the Academy of fine arts in Florence courses artist Pollastrini.
Participated as a volunteer for the Second (1859) and Third Wars of independence (1866). At the same time he was awarded the silver medal in drawing competition at the Academy of fine arts in Pisa (1863), where he moved with his family.
Married in 1870 in Naples, Demetra Corgialegno. Moved to Florence, where they had three children: Louise (died age 9), Demetrius and Beatrice.
In 1877 left his family in Florence and moved to France, in Rouen. Here, in love with the Countess of Barr, and began an intense artistic career as a genre painter, watercolorist and sculptor. In 1879 he exhibited at the Paris Salon, 1892 (with the exception of 1880, 1887 and 1890). In 1883 he participated in the world exhibition in Amsterdam, received a gold medal for sculptural work.
In 1886 he moved to Paris with his family. Became a friend of guy de Maupassant and Medardo Rosso.
For nostalgia for the homeland returned to Florence, where for several years he lived and worked. Seriously ill and died at Florence on 13 June 1899.
