Mikhailovich Romanovich

Sergei Mikhailovich Romanovich was born on 11 September (29 Aug) 1894, in Zamoskvorechye, in the family of Mikhail Mikhailovich Romanovich — inspector for the supervision of the orphanages of the Department of Empress Maria Fedorovna. The Romanovich was hereditary priests, only Mikhail joined the civil service. Mother — Nenberg Sophia A., the Swedish father (Leib-medic) — was the first teacher Serezhi.
In 1909 he was enrolled in the painting Department of the Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture, from which he graduated in 1918. There he studied with N. Kasatkina, A. Arkhipov, K. Korovin and other artists.
Having made friends with Mikhail Larionov was in 1912-1914 a member of the artistic Association "Radiant and budowniczy", and participated in exhibitions ("Target" 1913, No. 4 — 1914).
In 1914 he enlisted in the army.
In 1918 — 1920 he taught at the art Studio of the Moscow Proletkult in 1920 — 1928 (with interruptions) in the Voronezh Department of the VKhUTEMAS, in 1922-1923 years — in Moscow VHUTEMAS, since 1929 — at the art workers', in Institute of architecture and building, decorative Department of the Moscow higher art-industrial school (former Stroganov) "intermittently".
In 1921-1926 he was an active member of the Association "Makovec".
In 1928 he joined the "Society of Moscow artists" (MKO).
In 1932 he was sent to the Russian North, in 1938 in Central Asia, in 1938 — 1939 years in Azerbaijan.
In 1935-1948, he worked at the monumental painting workshop of the Academy of architecture of the USSR. He made a number of works in the genre of monumental painting:

Most of the work created by the artist dedicated to the ancient and Christian themes that he developed throughout his life. After the war, hardly ever exhibited his work, earning a living monumental orders. In 1995 the artist's work was shown at his retrospective exhibition in the Russian Museum (St. Petersburg) and then in the Tretyakov gallery in Moscow.
In 2003, the Tretyakov gallery was held a scientific conference devoted to the artist. Work S. M. R. have received high praise from art historians:
