The Melk Abbey. Lower Austria
The Abbey stands on a granite rock and towering over the Danube. Leopold I, who in 976, as the Margrave was transferred to the County of the land of today's South-Western part of Nizhnyanskiy made Melk his residence. His successors adorned the castle of priceless treasures and relics, but in 1089 Margrave Leopold II gave the castle to the monks benedictional of Lembaga thus was founded the monastery of Benedictines.
