Biography and information

Leonid Isaakovich Fresco (November 6, 1897, Moscow — November 10, 1982, Brussels) — Russian and a Belgian artist.

Born in Moscow, on Malaya Dmitrovka street, in the family of Isaac Abramovich Freshcope (b. 1864, Simferopol) and Yevgeniya Akimova (nee. Kalmykova; b. 1874, Novocherkassk). Sister Tatyana Isaakovna Fresco, actress, graduated from GITIS, played in theaters, cousin, Tatyana Yakovlevna, Fresco, ballerina. Serge Fresco, Belgian scientist.

Fresco Leonid studied at the Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture (1916 — 21). With 20-years — member. Society of artists of the Moscow school. In 1922 he moves to Belgium. In 1925 marries the pianist Josephine Edward. In 1923 the artist-designer of the Opera "the Golden Cockerel" (Royal Opera house of Antwerp).

Member of the Art salon 1925. Participates in the exhibition in the gallery Spectacles (1926). Participant of the exhibition of Belgian art in Rio de Janeiro (1946), the exhibition "Old and new Russian art" (1928, Brussels). In 1935, made the trip to Argentina.
