In August 2007, I had a chance to rest on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus in the vicinity of Sochi, in the small village of Loo. I had such a bad vacation, but I brought back a weighty bag of stones, which are scattered in abundance on numerous beaches. Stones, the most ordinary at first glance, seemed to me very entertaining, although vacationers did not pay attention to them. For me, each stone, with its unique shape and pattern, became a discovery, suggested a certain plot that requires development. Children who were nearby saw what I was doing and started to pick up interesting stones and bring them to me. I did not refuse and put the gifts into a common piggy bank, to be sorted out later.

At home, I turned to the possibilities of computer technology, starting with scanning stones, and then began to work in the appropriate programs to create unusual paintings. I am often asked: why and how did I come up with the idea of transforming or improving very conventional, or rather, barely recognizable images on ordinary stones, turning them into extraordinary paintings that are understandable to everyone? I was just lucky enough to see peculiar subjects on stones, usually hidden from other people, and then continue the theme in my paintings, using the original technique. Yes, emphasizing the pattern marked by nature on the stone - a little imagination, more patience, and...

I can't say exactly, but the artist in his conscious work with source materials should always rise above inanimate matter, allowing to give expression to the material beginning through the master's own perception, through his personal feelings and worldview....

...The stones quickly responded to my inquiry about the right or wrong choice of the subject of the picture, they themselves led me and as if said: the picture is already in your imagination, it remains only to find it among the many possible options and open for others....

This was the beginning of the Stone Age album.

The philosophical idea of my author series is to familiarize everyone with diverse paintings, manifested in the forms and texture of stone, in compositions of different stones.

I present collections of works from five cities of the world, in which I was lucky to visit: Antalya, Sochi, Veliky Novgorod, Loo, Miskhor.
