Description of the artwork «Execution by hooks»

One of the most famous works of Dean. Exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1839. It is assumed that the Dean himself witnessed such an execution during a trip to the East in 1828.
The painting was purchased by Richard Seymour-Conway, 4th Marquis of Gertword in 1848. Brought to the nation by Lady Wallace in 1897.
