Description of the artwork «Antiquarian»

Another, more romantic, name of the work - the Polar Star or Polaris.

The picture is painted in oil on canvas and was created in a series of paintings - "Constellations".

In the painting I try to rethink and show the celestial object as a story or a plot, and not as a fixed point in the sky. The painting contains several meanings - realistic, romantic and mystical.
There is deep night outside, but, but the girl, antiquarian, has an unfinished business.

She has just set candle a fire and is going to go down to the basement of her antique shop to search for an item for one of her clients-collectors.

A faint smile froze on her face, showing both satisfaction from the future deal and inspiration, anticipating future searches for the desired item among other antique items and remembering of the unusual stories of these items.

The main accent of the picture is a girl with candles, which is depicted in a realistic manner, while the rest of the objects are painted in impressionistic style.
Thus, I would like to convey the meaning of the polar star, which at various times played an important role for both religions, sailors and travelers, acting in the role of God and Spirit and in another case pointing the right way.

At the same time, here it is depicted not as soulless cold light that we see in the sky, but filled with warmth, light and hope, which was necessary for all who need it in former times.
