This painting is painted in oil on canvas, H 70 * W 50 cm.
The painting depicts a summer still life in the season of watermelons. Unlike southern latitudes, where watermelons and grapes can give a harvest several times a year, in most of the CIS countries and Ukraine, these fruits ripen closer to autumn.
Therefore, the main focus of the painting – to convey summer warm mood. In contrast, the picture contains a lot of cool shades that create a feeling of fighting impressions. On the one hand, summer fruits are depicted, but on the other hand, there is a feeling of approaching autumn.
In order to convey feelings in the first place, an impressionistic style was chosen that does not distract the viewer with unnecessary realistic details of objects.
Separately, it is worth noting the technique of a painting. Here are used rough brush strokes, which at first create the impression of ease of work. But thanks to this, it was possible to achieve greater picturesqueness and avoid photorealism, which nowadays painting suffer. In one area of the painting, only 2-3 exact brush strokes are used.
