Pearl (Polly) Binder

Pearl Binder (born Lady Elwyn-Jones nee Pearl Binder (1904 - 1990) - English artist (graphic) and writer. Her father Jacob Benderetsky in 1890 came from Russia to England, where he took a heroic part in the Anglo-Boer War.

Pearl Binder was born in Salford. She studied in London at the Central School of Art. In 1937, she married Frederick Alvin-Jones, who became Lord Chancellor in 1964.

Member of the English section of the Internationale of Artists (1933) and the executive committee of the British section of the International Association of Revolutionary Writers - IIDF (1935).
