Two more versions of this portrait have been preserved, painted in the first half of the 19th century. They are located in the Lithuanian Museum of Art and the Adam Mickiewicz Museum in Paris.
The most romantic image created by Valentin Vankovich, and his most famous work. The artist created the image of the poet-prophet, in which the portrait resemblance is combined with the personification of inspiration and romantic elevation. The portrait was painted in St. Petersburg by order of the Society for the Encouragement of Artists and was raffled to send the proceeds to the training of talented poor students. This was often done.
