Description of the artwork «Aphrodite and trash»

The painting "Aphrodite and Trash" refers to the very first works, when I began to look for a new style in art. It was 1996, and then I was a student at the Ryazan Art College. My teacher, Viktor Vasilievich Korsakov, having seen the first paintings in the style of ornamentalism, allowed me to experiment and “hone” a new style during my studies at RCU. This was an unprecedented event, because in those days, while studying there, it was necessary to strictly follow a realistic school of painting. I still remember his short and capacious word, which he said after watching several of my paintings in this style; - He is in the presence of many teachers, told me "Dare!"
The plot of the picture "Aphrodite and Trash" was born within the walls of the Ryazan Art College. My main task was to connect the ornament with the human body. In this I saw the special beauty of the style. I wanted to give the pattern a new meaning, to bring it out of the decorative plane into the picturesque space, so that the pattern would become the overall structure of the picture, so that it obeyed the aerial and linear perspectives. So, looking at the statue of Aphrodite, I realized that the ideal of female beauty embodied in sculpture and my style of ornamentalism fit perfectly together. In the painting, the pattern covers the entire image plane. The meaning of the plot of the picture is that everything turns into rubbish and only female beauty is unshakable ...
I presented the painting itself to private collectors from the USA, who in 2005 exhibited several of my paintings at one of the prestigious exhibitions "Curtain to Raise! Russian Art - Past and Present." My Aphrodite is now in Miami Florida.
