Description of the artwork «Birth of a titan»

This picture is one of the most ambitious paintings made by me on oil on canvas. Work on it lasted two years. The painterly work was preceded by painstaking work on a pencil sketch on paper and a small sketch of oil on canvas. This is the first - a large-sized canvas, written in my style of ornamentalism. It has more than 200 thousand small ornaments, written by me with a thin brush by hand, without the use of stencils, seals and stamps. Partly because of this, the name of the painting “The Birth of the Titan” occurs - a titanic work, which perhaps seems impossible from the outside, I carried out with great pleasure, registering each pattern, as if pronouncing the words of a prayer.
In the plot of the picture are two on the shore, a clear sunny day - a man and a woman are facing each other. They seem to say goodbye, and the girl escorts her lover on a long journey. The collective image of a man symbolizes the conquerors of the deeps of the sea, whether they are navigators, pioneer travelers, or submarine sailors. Nudes bring us back to the mythical distant past, making the plot timeless. In the same way, once the heroine of the canvas once accompanied her beloved many thousands of years ago. In the plot, the man symbolizes the Atlas - in ancient Greek mythology, this is a mighty titan, holding a heavenly vault on his shoulders. The position of the figures and the expression on the face of the protagonist are ambiguous, it can also be interpreted as return, or resurrection. A woman standing on the shore, in a long wait, finally waited for her man, as if he materialized from the patterns of the deeps of the sea and the ornaments of the sky, his gaze was still detached, ethereal. We observe it at the moment of birth, a moment before the Divine-inspired soul enters it.
Behind the man’s back, we see emerald-turquoise waves woven from patterns and large ships that, like ghosts, dissolve in the sky. In bright colors, I make it clear to the viewer that the plot development is optimistic: the man will return to his beloved after long sea voyages and victories and not pass them the joy of meeting!
Also, I put the symbols of the State flag in the picture, as a wish for the revival of my country and faith in its bright future ... "
