Wilhelm August Rider (October 30, 1796 - September 8, 1880) was an Austrian painter and draftsman.
Reader was born in Oberdebling, in the family of composer Ambros Rieder (1771–1855). He studied at the Vienna Academy of Arts, where he first met and made friends with Franz Schubert. Subsequently, he painted several portraits of Schubert. He also wrote a number of religious and historical thematic works.
